A new film dedicated to Enzo Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver as the Modenese entrepreneur, will be released in 2023.
The biopic is set during one of Ferrari’s darkest periods, in the summer of 1957, one year after the death of his son Dino.

The official release date is not yet known. What we do know for sure is that The Ferrari Movie, directed by director Michael Mann, will be available starting in 2023.
The screenplay was edited by Mann himself, in collaboration with Troy Kennedy Martin (who passed away in 2009), from the adaptation of Brock Yates’ book, “Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine.” The film will have a running time of 96 minutes.
Ferrari – the movie: the plot
Mann’s biopic places the figure of the legendary Enzo Ferrari, founder of the eponymous automaker, at the center of the narrative, telling a fragment of his life that reflects one of the most complicated moments in the Modenese entrepreneur’s life.
It is thesummer of 1957, one year after the death of his son Dino: the company created ten years earlier by Enzo Ferrari together with his (first) wife Laura is bankrupt. Ferrari has said goodbye to his career as a driver and faces a period of major changes, both on a business and personal level.
In addition to the professional difficulties, Ferrari is called upon to deal with the wreckage of a failing marriage, brought to its knees by the disappearance the year before of his son Dino, who died of Duchenne dystrophy when he was only 24 years old, and Enzo’s recognition of another son, born of an extramarital affair.
The protagonist thus decides to get back into the game, throwing himself headlong into a new sporting epic: to do so, he chooses one of the most iconic and legendary races in the history of four-wheelers: the Mille Miglia, a race that crossed half of the Italian Peninsula, starting in Brescia and a route that ran all the way to Rome, then back up again to the starting point.
Director Michael Mann described the project as follows: “In a story like this, the real power is contained in the exciting lives of these people, lives that took place under extreme circumstances. In addition, we have the explosive power and lethal beauty of racing. It is a story with strong drama at its core-that is why I have wanted to make this film for so long .”
Ferrari the movie: the cast
The film stars big names on the Hollywood scene: Enzo Ferrari is played by Adam Driver, an actor consecrated by the character of Kylo Ren in the third Star Wars trilogy and Oscar nominee for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Story of a Marriage. Along with the California star: Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, Sarah Gadon and Gabriel Leone, in an unprecedented and extremely promising ensemble cast.
Fun fact: The initial project (2015) involved Hugh Jackman, who had taken over from Christian Bale for the part of Enzo Ferrari after the latter dropped out of the project, but the extended lead time did not make it possible for ‘Wolverine’ to participate, who was replaced by Driver.
